Fifteen years ago, who could have imagined the Queensland-based NuGrow would be gearing up to launch operations at key sites in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to deliver waste management and land rehabilitation solutions.
The advancement is due to the vision of Dubai Aviation City Corporation and Dubai South Executive Chairman, His Excellency Khalifa Al Zaffin, and his commitment to ‘greening’ the UAE.
Like all visionary endeavours, success takes finding the right partners. With this being the second exploration trip for NuGrow Managing Director, Roy Wilson, and Head of Environment, Governance and Business Excellence, Peter Thompson, NuGrow’s proven approach to closed loop waste management is the ideal solution for key precincts in Dubai.
The team is looking at several opportunities, including Dubai South and Expo 2020, where various waste streams from these precincts are planned for treatment and recycling into NuGrow-manufactured organic growing mediums.
These will, in turn, be used to transform currently barren areas, such as the Duserve construction camp, into a green oasis.
“This latest trip couldn’t have gone any better when it comes to identifying practical opportunities and strong alignment through a shared commitment to the environment,” Roy said.
“Our vision is healthier environments supporting healthier communities globally, and this is our first major foray into a significant international opportunity,” he said.
“We are proud of what we’ve achieved in Queensland and are excited by the vision we’re seeing in Dubai, where environmental innovation is all about asking ‘how can we’, rather than ‘that’s too hard’.”
NuGrow anticipates formalising a partnership in the coming months.
