Roy Wilson, founder and Managing Director of NuGrow, was recently recognised for his contribution to the community, being named as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation at an event hosted by Ipswich Mayor, Cr Paul Pisasale.

The recognition, presented to Roy by the Hon. Steven Miles, Queensland Minister for the Environment and Heritage Protection and Minister for National Parks and the Great Barrier Reef, acknowledges individual contributions of US$1,000 or more to the Annual Program Fund, Polio Plus Fund or Humanitarian Grants Program of the Rotary Foundation. It was established in 1957 to acknowledge and encourage personal philanthropy.

Having been a supporter of the Rotary Foundation for many years, the contribution was a natural progression for Roy.

“Rotary delivers a wide range of outstanding programs that make a real difference in communities locally and abroad,” Roy said.

“While generosity and giving back are personal values of mine, it’s important to know that you’re giving to organisations founded in integrity, transparency and accountability – and Rotary’s work certainly gives confidence in those areas,” he said.

“It’s an honour to be recognised in this way, but equally exciting to know that since the program’s inception, I’m one of more than a million people who have contributed to Rotary’s wider work.

“You can get overwhelmed by the volume of need in the world – but when you turn to organisations like Rotary, you see there is an army of people stepping up to do their part.”

With a personal passion for grassroots community programs and environmental activism, Roy is also a regular contributor to local community groups, sporting organisations and charities in areas where NuGrow operates.
