NuGrow Executive General Manager Jacob Wilson joined Alan Roebuck on the Ipswich Today podcast (episode 533, 14 October 2026). They talked about the latest on NuGrow’s enclosed, in-vessel composting project at Swanbank.
In the interview, Jacob explains:
- Why NuGrow went to the Planning and Environment Court over the original September deadline. Supply chain disruption, including a shortage of resin for pipe linked to the conflict in Iran, affected the build.
- How far the build has come since works began in December 2025, from excavation and around $2 million in piling to the walls, roof and technology going up now.
- That the Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation has issued an updated environmental authority. It now matches the court-ordered completion date of 21 January 2027.
- What NuGrow is doing in the meantime, including its interim mobile aeration system and more frequent reporting to the department.
- What it means for customers. It’s business as usual, with the same disposal and recycling services NuGrow has provided in Ipswich for 20 years.
